Özsoy completed her undergraduate studies at Yıldız Technical University and earned her PhD in the United States. She is a TÜBA-awarded scientist who has led Turkey’s polar expeditions under the auspices of the Presidency and under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. She served as the founding director of ITU PolReC in 2015 and the TÜBİTAK Polar Research Institute in 2019. By conducting numerous national and international projects, she has carried out pioneering work in the field of polar sciences.
Today, she serves as the Vice President of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR), a faculty member at the ITU Maritime Faculty, the President of the TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, the Director of the TÜBİTAK Polar Research Institute, and a member of the Republic of Türkiye’s Local Government and Disaster Policies Board.
